Every dream, JCI Legazpi believes, begins with a single opportunity. On June 19, 2026, the chapter set out to provide exactly that, carrying its long-running Box of Dreams program into its 2.0 edition with a successful outreach to the children of Barangay It-Ba in Manito, Albay.

The project was a collaborative effort across organizations rooted in the same community. JCI Legazpi partnered with the JCI Junior Club Legazpi, the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay It-Ba, and the St. Raphael the Archangel Parish of Manito, weaving together the senior chapter, its youth wing, the barangay’s youth council, and the local parish in a shared mission to empower young minds.
At the center of Box of Dreams 2.0 was something deceptively simple: the distribution of educational supplies. Notebooks, pens, and other learning materials may seem like small gifts, but for a child in an underserved community, they can remove real barriers to staying in school. The supplies came paired with meaningful interactions, ensuring the children felt seen and encouraged, not merely handed a parcel.
The chapter was careful to articulate the deeper purpose behind the giveaways. The goal was not only to support the children’s learning, but to inspire them to dream bigger and believe in their potential. In other words, the supplies were a means to an end — the end being a child’s belief that a brighter future is within reach.
That philosophy is captured in the program’s guiding image. A simple box filled with school supplies may seem small, the chapter reflected, but for a child it can be a box filled with hope, inspiration, and endless possibilities. The metaphor reframes a modest act of charity as something far larger: an investment in a young person’s sense of what is possible.
Holding the project in Manito extended JCI Legazpi’s reach into a community that stands to benefit greatly from such support. By involving the local SK and parish, the chapter ensured the effort was grounded in, and embraced by, the very community it served — a partnership model that tends to produce more lasting impact than outside intervention alone.
As a 2.0 edition, Box of Dreams also demonstrated a commitment to continuity. Rather than launching a one-off event, the chapter built on a proven program, refining and repeating something that works. Together, the organizers noted, they are helping build brighter futures — one dream at a time. In Barangay It-Ba, those futures arrived in a humble box, packed with supplies and brimming with hope.
